Bass players often contend they have been neglected because their repertoire does not contain any sound practical works which they can use for individual practice, after having learned to play moderately well. For These players the author has written this work, having actually devised all the exercises on the instrument itself. Some bass players have, in the author's experience, shown little interest in private practice, as the ordinary bass part is usually not very inspiring. These studies should, therefore, prove an interesting pastime for any player of ordinary ability.
